Located on the west coast of Sardinia near cape Mora, the Capo Mannu lighthouse takes its name from the main cape (Capo Mannu) that is located at about one kilometer from the same lighthouse.
The Capo Mannu lighthouse stands in an area of significant landscape-environmental and historical-cultural interest in the territory of the Municipality of San Vero Milis, and falls within the site of community importance “Pond of Putzu Idu, Salina Manna and Pauli Marigosa“.
The Capo Mannu lighthouse, built in 1960 and decommissioned in 1984, has never been the subject of renovations, so its present appearance is the same as the original one.
The Capo Mannu lighthouse is located 59 meters above the sea level and consists of a single-storey building in which there were two apartments for the keepers (currently uninhabited) with a quadrangular tower 11 meters high on which the signal maritime (still working).
Since it was abandoned until today it has been left to ruin, completely abandoned to the elements, now it is an unsafe building.
The Capo Mannu lighthouse is located in a position of great landscape interest, in fact from where it is located it is possible to observe the whole coast that surrounds it and see the Malu ‘Entu island flat on the horizon; great place if you are looking for refuge from the oppression of everyday reality, where you can immerse yourself in nature, get lost in the boundless horizon and in the silence all around.
The Capo Mannu lighthouse is one of the magical places where the wind and the sea manage to create unique atmospheres, where man can refresh himself with that feeling of freedom that only a lighthouse overlooking the sea and the howling of the mistral can offer.
